Zamir toured the various departments and spoke with wounded troops and their families about their injuries, recovery and rehabilitation, and their healing journey.

According to the IDF, increased movement of military forces, including aircraft, will be noticeable throughout the country, though it affirmed there is no concern about a security incident.

The change comes amid ongoing controversy over haredi (ultra-Orthodox) enlistment in the military and the term of service for religious soldiers.

Earlier this week, Netanyahu claimed that IDF officers deliberately did not wake him for over an hour because they knew he would prevent the massacre.

He wrote that Jewish tradition had established principles for the conduct of a Jewish army, citing the biblical phrase, “Your camp shall be holy.”

The IDF says the commander has been explicitly ordered to avoid taking any actions that may be in any way interpreted as identifying with the Jewish extremists or supporting their illegal conduct.

Netanyahu stressed that the Gaza Strip will "no longer pose a threat to Israel," noting that the goal has "largely been achieved."

Maj.-Gen. Dado Bar Kalifa currently serves as the IDF Manpower Directorate chief. IDF chief Zamir had previously stated he would not make any senior appointments until 2027 due to elections.

All of this takes place as IDF officials have said Jewish extremist violence has reached new levels, with hundreds of extremists recently drawing out a conflict with the IDF.

Their meeting comes as US President Donald Trump shifts from military to economic threats against the regime.
