Arrest

The operation, dubbed Operation Courier Run, was jointly carried out by the Southern District Israel Police, Border Police, and the Lachish District Central Investigations Unit (YAMAR). 

In exchange for their services, the couple allegedly demanded a "fee" ranging from NIS 2,000 to NIS 5,000, and in some cases up to NIS 10,000.

An MDA team called to the scene evacuated Nahum to Yoseftal Medical Center in the city, where it was determined that he was suffering from a dislocated shoulder, bleeding, and severe injuries.

Adanek, 24, first broke onto the scene in 2017 with his song “Boi Buba” (“Come on, Baby”). A year later, when he was only 16, he participated in the sixth season of The Next Star for Eurovision.

The arrests come amid heightened tensions over recurring protests at the intersection of Bathurst Street and Sheppard Avenue West.

The suspect, in his 40s, was arrested on July 30 following a weeks-long investigation. Police linked him to attacks on buildings housing Channel 12, Haaretz, Israel Hayom, and the Justice Ministry.

According to the allegations, the lawyer arrived for a meeting with a prisoner she represents and attempted to hand over the suspected drugs during the meeting.

The arrest follows the suspension of right-wing activist and musician Yoav Eliasi from his position as commander of a Tel Aviv District rapid response squad.

The arrests all occured on major Israeli highways as the drivers were transporting the Palestinians.

The suspect is alleged to have operated a number of social media accounts through which he would publish incitement against Israel and the IDF, alongside praise and support for Hamas.
