Road closures began at noon, and Israel Police and Netvei Israel have called on the public to avoid driving to the entrance area to Jerusalem throughout the day.

A man was killed after being trapped under a train car at Holon’s Wolfson Station, halting service and causing delays on Thursday morning.

For years, Israel has spent millions of shekels building infrastructures to “bring the peripheries closer to center,” instead of dealing with the peripheral transportation infrastructures themselves.

Infrastructure damage and safety work in the areas of Ganot and Vitkin forced the railway system to suspend operations, Israel Railways announced last Tuesday. 

Israel Railways said free shuttles will be available to supplement transportation between Tel Aviv and the North, and between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

During the conference, Miri Regev addressed the train’s current malfunction, remarking that “there is no transportation chaos, the trains are still running.”

A supervisor demanded that Roni Ohayon give up a seat for the disabled because an ultra-Orthodox man refused to sit next to her.

To enable restoration work, trains will not run today between Binyamina and Netanya, and between Tel Aviv HaHagana and Lod or Ben-Gurion Airport.
