Israelis commemorate the 73 soldiers killed when two helicopters collided on their way to Lebanon in 1997. To this day the IDF has yet to give a definite reason as to why the helicopters crashed.

In less than two week, two horrific accidents have left four IDF officers dead.

The IDF believes that the likely crash of the helicopter was due to a fire that broke out in the left engine.

IDF Chief of Staff Aviv Kohavi reaffirmed the IDF's intention to "thoroughly investigate the incident."

It is still unclear why the two pilots were unable to exit the helicopter and the exact cause of their deaths is yet to be determined.

While the press faces censorship on what it can report, Knesset members are under no obligation to abide by such rules.

A third crew member was rescued from the sea and is in stable condition at Rambam hospital.

Israel’s Ministerial committee that oversees defense procurement approved the Defense Ministry’s recommendation to purchase 10 new helicopters for USD $2.4 billion. 

The deal, worth $3.4 billion, will see Israel receive 18 CH-53K heavy-lift helicopters to replace the aging Yasur squadron.
