Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei hit out at US President Donald Trump after the US military and Iran continued strikes on each other on Saturday.

“The repeated violations by the Great Satan of the memorandum of understanding have once again proven to everyone how worthless and unreliable the signature of the President of the United States is, and that bullying, hegemonic ambition, and savagery are inseparable elements of the American way,” Khamenei wrote in a statement.

“Now that the American enemy seeks to ignite further war, impose even heavier costs, and suffer even greater disgrace, it should know that the noble Iranian nation and the Axis of Resistance have unforgettable lessons in store for it,” he added.

“The bravery of the fighters of Islam and the courage of the people of the southern region in recent days have already demonstrated examples of those lessons.”

Khamenei's statements came after two US service members were killed in action on Friday. One is still missing in action, and four were injured during Iranian strikes on Friday in Jordan, according to United States Central Command (CENTCOM).

The four injured service members were evacuated to Jordanian hospitals and have since been discharged.

Iran suspends commitment to Memorandum of Understanding

Later on Saturday, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabad announced that Iran was suspending its commitments to the Memorandum of Understanding between it and the United States, in comments publicized by the semi-official Fars news outlet.

In a series of posts on X/Twitter, Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghadam criticized the US for violating the MoU.

"The US has started a war contrary to the terms of MOU and international principles destroying the infrastructures," he wrote. "The US side lacked serious determination, will and intention for any Deal to succeed, which in turn indicates it didn't care any for peace and stability proven to be mere rhetorics. Point: there's no intention for peace or so-called DEAL, basic Intention is to destabilize without deal, within deal or via deal."

The Saudi Arabian state television broadcaster Al Saudiya announced later on Saturday that both the European Union and the Gulf states rejected any "illegitimate claims" of sovereignty and control over the Strait of Hormuz.

The EU and Gulf states also opposed imposing any permits or fees on international navigation through the strait, and called for Iran to reopen it unconditionally.

US, Iran continue strikes

The US and Iran have launched days of strikes against each other over the past week.

US airstrikes early on Saturday killed three people and wounded eight others in the southern Hormozgan province, which borders the Strait of Hormuz, while two bridges and a road tunnel were damaged, Iranian state TV reported.

The US carried out further airstrikes in the same province on Saturday afternoon, the semi-official Fars news agency said, quoting provincial authorities, but there were no reports of civilian casualties.
