Ayatollah Ali Khamenei made a public appearance to pray at the tomb of former Iranian Supreme Leader Ruhollah Khomeini, marking the beginning of the celebrations for the 47th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, his official X account posted on Saturday.
"Today we mark the start of the celebrations for the forty-seventh anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution, with the presence of His Eminence Ayatollah Khamenei at the holy shrine of Imam Khomeini," the post said.
Khamenei leaves underground shelter?
The news comes as reports indicated earlier this week that Khamenei had been moved to a safe underground facility, fearing the possibility of a US strike on Iran.
According to an Iran International report from January 24, Masoud Khamenei, the ayatollah’s third son, has assumed management of the supreme leader’s day-to-day responsibilities and is serving as the primary channel of communication with the regime’s executive branches.
Additionally, Tehran's Mayor Alireza Zakani announced on Thursday that in the event of an attack by the United States or Israel, metro stations and underground parking lots across Tehran are being converted into public "war shelters," according to Open Source Intelligence Monitor.
