A dumpster fire broke out near a residential building in Beitar Illit on Wednesday, killing a 10-year-old child, ZAKA confirmed.

The child was initially unconscious following the incident and was transferred to Hadassah-University Medical Center in Jerusalem’s Ein Kerem for medical treatment, where he was pronounced dead, ZAKA and Magen David Adom said.

Paramedic Yinon Bar Nachman, who was at the scene, said, "When we arrived at the scene, we noticed a 10-year-old child who was unconscious, pulseless, and not breathing, suffering from severe injuries and burns across his body. We provided him with life-saving medical treatment that included stopping bleeding, chest compressions, artificial ventilation, and administering medications, and evacuated him to the hospital in critical condition while continuing resuscitation efforts."

The cause of the injuries is currently unclear, but it is suspected that children lit the garbage on fire, causing an aerosol can to explode.

Authorities and emergency services are investigating the circumstances.

This is a developing story.
