Opposition leader Yair Lapid will table a Knesset bill on Monday seeking to codify Qatar as an "enemy state," his office confirmed on Sunday.

Qatar has been "acting systematically and continuously contrary to the security and political interests of the State of Israel," an explanatory note provided by Lapid's office stated.

This was all done "while supporting and financing terrorist organizations that fight Israel, primarily the terrorist organization Hamas," the note added.

"Tomorrow we will begin the legislative process of the bill that seeks to correct a historical injustice in the authorities' relationship with the State of Qatar," Lapid said.

"I call on all factions in the Knesset, particularly factions that call themselves 'national,' to express support publicly for the bill," he added.
