US President Donald Trump said on Thursday that he will grant a $5,000 dividend to all American citizens if the Republican Party wins both houses of Congress in the midterm elections, slated for November.

Trump said he would do so because of the US's "tremendous strength and success economically," noting that the dividend would apply to all US adults.

He further noted that the dividend "must be spent in the United States of America," saying he doesn't want it spent in "Canada or Germany."

The US president made his comments while speaking at the Republican National Convention in Dallas, Texas, where he also said that he is considering renaming the Strait of Hormuz the "Trump Strait."

"I should get something out of it," he said. "I'm sure the Iranian leadership will be thrilled with that."

Trump says activity seen at Iran's Pickaxe Mountain, urges Tehran 'not to get cute'

Trump also said that the US may strike Pickaxe Mountain, urging Tehran to be cautious.

"We notice there's a little activity at Pickaxe. I would advise Iran not to get cute because we will have to hit them very hard," he said.

Pickaxe Mountain, located near Iran's heavily damaged Natanz uranium enrichment facility, is a fortified site with two deeply buried tunnel complexes.

Trump has been threatening strikes on Pickaxe Mountain since at least mid-July.

Pickaxe Mountain lies 220 km. (140 miles) south of Tehran and 2 km. from the Natanz complex.
