US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner have cancelled their trip to Israel, scheduled for Tuesday, sources told The Jerusalem Post.
The visit came as the first disagreement between the US and Israel during their operations in Iran came to light, with US officials telling the Post that they were surprised by the extent of the IDF strike on Iranian oil facilities on Saturday.
There were no comments from the US or Israel regarding the reasons for the cancellation of the visit.
Both US envoys were key in the days before the war to negotiate a diplomatic solution with the Iranian regime, which eventually was scrapped after reaching a "dead end."
Israel strikes Iranian oil depot near Tehran
Israel's Saturday strike targeted a complex directly connected to Iran's military industrial complex, sources confirmed to the Post.
In a statement, the IDF said that "the military forces of the Iranian terrorist regime make direct and frequent use of these fuel tanks to operate military infrastructure. Through them, the Iranian terrorist regime distributes fuel to various consumers, including military entities in Iran."
The IDF also confirmed the target's proximity to Tehran, with Iranian reports saying that a big fire broke out after the strike and smoke engulfed most of the city because of the attacks.
In the past, senior Israeli sources have told the Post that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has, in recent years, taken over certain portions of the economy, especially in the oil sector.
Iranian opposition reports indicated that as many as 30 sites might be under attack.
