Summary of Events Over Last Week
Incidents of antisemitism recorded by the Antisemitism Research Center (ARC) by CAM surged 32% this week, largely driven by "Quds Day" commemorations held across the globe by supporters of the Tehran regime, amid the ongoing regional war in the Middle East.
Established by Iranian Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini in 1979, "Quds Day," or "Jerusalem Day," has served for decades as a focal point for antisemitic incitement against the Jewish people and state.
"Quds Day" rallies in several Western cities this past weekend featured overt terrorism support, blood libel allegations, and calls for Israel's elimination.
In New York City, demonstrators praised Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), as well as Hezbollah and Hamas.
In Chicago, marchers chanted "Iran, Iran, make us proud" and "IRGC make us proud, bomb these genocidal clowns.”
A rally in Toronto, Canada, saw protesters display Tehran regime flags and symbols.
In London, England, shouts of "Yalla, yalla, Intifada" and "Death to the IDF" were heard.
In total, 47 of 181 incidents documented around the world this week, more than one in four, were related to "Quds Day."
Other incidents the Antisemitism Research Center (ARC) by CAM monitored this week included:
- Netherlands: The Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamia terror group claimed responsibility for the bombing of an Amsterdam Jewish school.
- Germany: A Holocaust memorial in Hanover was vandalized with antisemitic graffiti.
- United States: In a letter announcing his resignation as Director of the U.S. National Counterterrorism Center, Joe Kent trafficked in antisemitic tropes, blaming Israel and "its powerful American lobby" for the war in Iran.
United States: Three suspects were arrested for violently assaulting two Hebrew-speaking Jewish men at a restaurant in San Jose, California.
